Our aim is to make your phone or video session as easy as possible.

  • The time and date of your healing pod will be confirmed by email
  • When it’s time for your session use the link or number provided to contact your healing pod (more information below)
  • If you decide you would like to change from phone to video calls, or video to phone calls, you can do so at any time, just get in touch

If you are having phone appointments you’ll be using your mobile or landline and it’s up to you which you use.

  • If you are using a mobile please try to use a space with good reception.
  • When it’s time for your appointment call the phone number we have given you
  • Your peer support worker will answer and start your session

We are using Zoom for video calls so you will either need a computer with a webcam, a tablet or smart phone with a camera.

  • We will send you the link to download the free Zoom app which is compliant with GDPR legislation.
  • You’ll be given an invite link via email. Follow the link and connect. Your session will start right away.
  • Make sure that there is nothing in the room that can tell personal or confidential information about you (like certificates on the wall…)
  • Our meetings are password protected, so it may be a good idea to take a note of the meeting ID and password and keep it handy.

It is completely up to you – both are very effective ways to have your support. Our Healing Pods  are not available on the phone.

Phone benefits:

  • You don’t need to be on the internet or have access to a computer
  • You can do your session from a comfortable place of your choice

 

Video benefits:

  • You might prefer having a visual connection with your peer support worker

We would recommend that you find a quiet, comfortable place in your home, where you are unlikely to be disturbed.

  • Turn off music and the TV in order to minimise interferences.
  • Find somewhere to sit where you’ll be comfortable for a while.
  • Try the technology before your group starts. Make sure that you are not showing on camera anything illegal or inappropriate.
  • Have a glass of water ready

You may find that headphones help you hear what the people in the group are saying better but you don’t need them in you one to one session. However, for group videoconference the headphones serve several functions which can enhance people’s overall experience.  Firstly, they assist with privacy, as no one in the client’s environment – or yours – can accidentally overhear anything that is coming in over the video meeting.  Headphones usually improve sound quality, and allow people in the meeting to speak quietly, and naturally, into their microphones without shouting at screens.

No, nothing will be recorded or kept.

Will other people be able to hear?

No. All our peer support workers will be using private rooms to hold sessions and they have measures in place to ensure your privacy at all times.

The most important thing is that you get help when you need it. We’ll support you as much as we can through the transition to video or phone support

What better time to give it a shot. Imagine connecting with people who already understand many of your worries about how Covid-19 will affect your mental health. Worried that everyone else will know each other? We were all new to peer support once, and the regular members all remember how nerve wracking our first time was. Please know that you will be welcomed. There is no pressure to speak, you can just listen. Plus, you’ll only be new once!

Facilitators will ensure that no one person takes over the group. In addition, we set ground rules at the beginning of each session. Many people find that being part of a group of people who genuinely understand and support them is really uplifting.

  1. We recommend to use headphones to ensure privacy and better sound quality.
  2. For confidentiality reasons it is important that neither full names or personal contact details are visible to other members of the group. At the beginning of the meeting we will change the name displayed on zoom if you are not able to do so.
  3. You can leave your camera off if you prefer. Make sure to let us know that you feel ok.
  4. We are requesting your personal details and address in case of an emergency. If the videocall stops abruptly, we will make sure that all members are feeling good. We may have to phone you or your emergency contact person.
  5. People can attend one session or many. It is up to you how often you come for support.

Meetings will take place using the platform Zoom. Once you book a place via our online booking system or by email, we will send you confirmation and the link to join the zoom meeting, ID and password.

Each session will be 90 minutes for up to 8 participants and two peer facilitators.
